(More customer reviews)If you want to use a Peerless mount to attach your projector to your ceiling and that ceiling happens to be vaulted, this product isn't only useful, it's also required. The build quality is typical of other Peerless accessories: strong. In my opinion, the price is a little steep for what is essentially two pieces of metal and some screws, but when you've just spent thousands on a home theater setup, what's another $30 or so?
Installation is straightforward, assuming that you have some minimal handyman abilities. (Perhaps too big of an assumption to make after reading reviews of some other Peerless mounts.) I installed directly to a wood joist in the ceiling, and a slight tug on the adapter confirmed that it isn't going *anywhere*. Make sure you have a good stud finder, tall enough ladder, electric drill, and a socket set.
In addition to the mount itself, you'll also need an extension column (Peerless part number EXT-XXX) that attaches in between this cathedral adapter and the mounting plate. When measuring to figure out how long of an extension column you'll need, don't forget to factor in the height of this adapter plus the height of your projector with mounting plate attached. I was too generous the first time around and ended up getting a 2-ft extension for a 9-ft ceiling, except that I'm a 6'3" guy. It only took one smack of my head on the projector before I ordered a shorter column.
