(More customer reviews)We used this speaker to replace the center speaker in our home theatre system.It has always been a problem to hear voices, which were slightly muffled and muddy because of its position below the television (the only way to make it centralized), and because of the surround sound, a 5:1 plus subwoofer.You can hear the movie next door while not being able to hear many voices in a movie.This speaker has produced a noticeable clarity to the speech track in broadcast programs and in digital movies and even in the treble of music.
Another interesting part is that I am not aware that the speaker is mounted in the ceiling.The voice track images perfectly. It sounds like the speech is coming from the actors themselves.I was worried that it would sound separate from the surround sound environment but it has integrated perfectly.
This speaker is a two way speaker and the tweeter can be aimed specifically to optimize the sound directly toward the listeners.The higher number speakers in this series of speakers have built in subwoofers.The 3 and 4 way speakers will have more adjustability - for the treble and the bass.This speaker has minus 3 decibel neutral and plus 3 decibel adjustment control.I've never seen a speaker that allows you to adjust the decibel levels of internal components.It is part of a system that allows you to fine tune the system to the environment.
Quality of construction is excellent.It is beautifully engineered and the assembly is flawless.After cutting a hole in the ceiling the speaker inserts into the hole and a very clever system activated by four screws accessible from the front draws clamps down to the ceiling material and secures the speaker to the ceiling.It was easy and it was flawless.Attachment of wires is very positive and easily accomplished to two color coded terminal devices.The packaging was exceptionally well thought out.The unit was held securely separated from the external box.The speaker grill is packed safely inside its own box.The instructions were straightforward; easy to understand and to follow.
Everything about this speaker reveals exceptional attention to detail and quality and it was a pleasure installing the speaker.It is beautifully made -- a pity it is hidden in the ceiling.For people who like things well made and well crafted, this is a spectacular speaker.
Important tip: use the cardboard packing material into which the speaker is set as the template for the hole in the hole to be cut in the ceiling.It is exactly the right size.
This is the rare product that does what it says it will do.
